Facebook Used for Evidence in Divorces
Published on 07/27/2010
According to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, 81% of its members have used, or have conversely faced, evidence taken from Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and other social networking sites.
Of these websites, divorce lawyers say that evidence from Facebook is most often used. In fact, 66% of the divorce lawyers who were surveyed said that Facebook is most often used as the source of online evidence followed by MySpace (at 15%) and Twitter (at 5%).
A 2008 report by the Pew Internet and American Life Project found that nearly one in five American adults uses Facebook for flirting.
